Modified Camel Trophy Build - Day 1

One of the downsides to owning a UN/Nato spec Defender is that the chassis is made of painted steel, which is fine if the vehicle is used in Africa or the Middle East as it was intended to be, but here on the east coast, we deal with something called snow and salt on the roads in the winter. The snow is fine, but its the salt that is the prime suspect in rust formation on the chassis. The focus of the tear down was to replace the original chassis with a galvanized one that is far less susceptible to rust.

Now that the tear down is complete, we get to the fun part - modifying! The plan here is to take some of the modifications found on a Camel Trophy 110 and apply them to the Bundu Basher. Nothing too extreme, we're not going rock crawling in it, but just the right bits to allow for some serious overland travel.

Mantec rear tire carrier (moving the spare tire from the door to a standalone tire carrier really does help with opening the rear door)

Hat tip to convenience (and also a must have to keep the wife happy) - sides steps! Definitely a non-Camel Trophy mod, and one for the mall cruiser column
